Regional Projects in Albury-Wodonga
The partnership between Albury and Wodonga councils continues to deliver. In collaboration with the Australian, NSW and Victorian Governments, and other project partners, Albury and Wodonga Councils are progressing a range of Albury Wodonga Regional Projects.
Enabled by a Statement of Intent signed on 6 July 2020, this landmark agreement sought to unlock the region’s potential and drive innovation and growth for the benefit of both cities. The Statement of Intent laid the foundation for a game-changing Regional Project that brought together the powers of local, state and federal governments to supercharge the local economy. A range of feasibility studies were prepared which have informed the proposed investment of $80M by the Australian Government, $15M by the NSW Government and contributions from both Albury and Wodonga Councils.

Oddies Creek Splash Park – A Signature Regional Project for Liveability
Upgrades to the Oddies Creek Park in Albury include construction of a splash park, plant room and water treatment system, as well as fencing and gates, paths and landscaping. The works respond to calls from the community to provide a free and safe family friendly splash park close to the river for residents and tourists. The splash park will be the region’s first dedicated, free-to-access water play space and be accessible from both sides of the Murray, enhancing tourism in the region as well as improving amenity and liveability for locals. Located within Albury’s riverside parkland, the splash park will enhance community wellbeing, and create a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors. This project supports the Regional Project’s vision of building healthier, more connected communities through accessible and family-friendly infrastructure.
Wodonga Creek Precinct
The Wodonga Creek precinct development will link the Wodonga central business area, Belvoir Park and Gateway Island through to Albury by connecting to the existing Wodonga pathways network. Stronger connections between the town centre and Wodonga Creek will enable a range of tourism, leisure and economic opportunities. Planning and design has commenced, with construction commencing mid-2026.
Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence
The Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at Wodonga TAFE’s Logic campus is fully funded by the Australian Government as part of the Government’s commitment to investing in critical skills that will help with Building Australia’s Future. The facility will enable a tactile introduction to advanced manufacturing within a suite of labs, providing introductory programs and basic prototyping capabilities for small and medium enterprises.
Albury Entertainment Centre Convention Wing Extension – A Key Regional Project Initiative
As part of the Albury-Wodonga Regional Projects, the Albury Entertainment Centre Convention Wing Extension supports the region’s vision for economic development and enhanced liveability. This transformative redevelopment within Albury’s Cultural Precinct will double conference capacity, boost tourism and strengthen Albury’s role as a strategic hub between Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. With design now underway, the project exemplifies the Regional Project’s goal to deliver infrastructure that drives growth, connectivity and opportunity across the border region.
Taxiway Alpha Extension & Emergency Apron – Boosting Regional Connectivity
Part of the Albury-Wodonga Regional Project, the Taxiway Alpha Extension and Emergency Apron upgrades at Albury Airport are vital infrastructure investments designed to improve efficiency, safety, and support future growth. By extending Taxiway Alpha and enhancing access to the Western Precinct, this project strengthens Albury’s role as a key regional aviation hub and unlocks opportunities for aviation-related industries.
This upgrade directly supports the Regional Project’s goals of driving economic development, improving connectivity, and building future-ready infrastructure for one of regional Australia’s fastest-growing areas.
Logic Innovation Precinct
The innovative facility at Wodonga TAFE Logical Innovation Precinct will transform how heavy vehicle operators are trained, improving safe driving practices and better equipping them for the rapidly evolving transport and logistics industry. The Australian Government funded $22 million investment will support construction of a heavy vehicle obstacle circuit, a heavy vehicle repair and maintenance workshop, a main client building and car park, along with upgrades to external infrastructure, and the installation of a state-of-the-art cyber range for simulated courses. The upgraded facility will support Wodonga TAFE to expand its Heavy Vehicle Technology Program, which is expected to attract up to 1,200 students in four years and generate more than $70 million in gross regional product.
